More spring

This blog was originally conceived as a means to keep family and friends up to date on all the goings-on in my two young sons' lives. However, I hope it'll become something more. I've always been fond of photography, but becoming a parent brought a whole new meaning to it. Shortly after my first child was born, I was faced with the overwhelming need to record as many of our family's moments as possible, so I went and bought a cheap digital camera. For the past four years it has been one of the most important implements that I carry with me everywhere almost on a daily basis. My knowledge of photography is limited, plus I realize there isn't much to play around with when you're armed with a simple point-and-shoot camera. An artist by trade, I can't help but try to bring some sort of artistic merit into my photographs. A perfectionist, I get frustrated when I don't succeed. But then most days I realize that whether or not I succeed doesn't really matter. All that matters is that I'm having fun, and that by taking these pictures I will create a wealth of mementos that decades down the road I'll be proud and happy to revisit over and over again.
